Jessum Buds got together in the summer of 2007 as a bluegrass trio with an emphasis on strong harmonies. They began honing their skills by performing regularly at a little coffee bar called the Speedtrap in Palmer Lake and gradually added original material to the songs they already loved. Eventually the group started playing at a variety of other venues including bluegrass festivals. Sadly, it was just as they were developing into a solid performance group that circumstances prevented their guitar player from continuing to play with them. Faced with a major decision about the future of the band, Jessum Buds decided to expand instead of giving up; they added an exceptional banjo player and a very talented and creative young mandolin player. Today with the mixture of strong instrumentals brought by the newer members of the band and the harmonies the original members were already known for, the band is stronger than ever.
